Acrylic Painting Workshop/An Exercise in Abstraction
August 22- 23 (Saturday-Sunday)
10am- 5pm, lunch break included.
"in a successful painting everything is integral...all the parts belong to the whole If you remove an aspect or element you are removing its wholeness." Richard Diebenkorn.
This workshop is designed for painters interested in exploring more deeply the fundamental elements that come together to create a successful abstract painting.
Abstraction in painting allows the artist to communicate in often personal and impactful ways. In this fast paced two-day workshop students work to develop a unique voice
in their paintings. Demonstrations and instructor-led exercises each morning introduce you to abstract and non-objective approaches to art making, while group conversations
on the history of painting provide you and your developing work with context. You're encouraged to work more independently in the afternoon with the instructor providing
individualized feedback throughout.
Open to intermediate and advanced students with the ability to create on their own. This is an acrylic painting workshop. Students should be familiar with using acrylic painting and related materials.
