Pan-Long Island Young Artists Exhibition Opening at Revitalized Flowerfield Arts Campus, hosted by The Atelier at Flowerfield

Saint James/Smithtown, NY -- The Atelier at Flowerfield, a fine arts public charity, is presenting a new exhibition featuring young artists from across Long Island in The Long Island Young Artists Exhibition, a juried show for Long Island’s next generation of fine artists. This exhibition will represent the full scope of young artists on Long Island, encompassing work of young artists ages 12-28 from both Nassau and Suffolk county, spanning from the Hamptons to the boroughs, displaying the work of middle school, high school, and college age artists. This unique exhibition was created to represent young artists from all of the diverse communities that make up our region.

The Atelier at Flowerfield is an art space that is challenging the conventional scope of arts hubs on Long Island. Formally a derelict and abandoned helicopter manufacturing building, Atelier Hall is now a redesigned state of the art modern 2,000 square foot open gallery floorplan, an uncommon addition to the Long Island art scene. The exhibition space embraces a modern industrial upscaled aesthetic, much like many of the galleries in Brooklyn’s factory landscape, except with heavy European influences coinciding with the school’s atelier style training. The space allows for all sizes and types of artwork and also accommodates large crowds at its openings.

The exhibition will coincide with The Atelier’s Art College Fair on November 2nd from 1-5 PM. At this free event young artists, atelier students, and high school students will have the opportunity to get their artwork critiqued, make connections, and elevate their art portfolio with the input of representatives from numerous art institutions, accredited colleges, and creative professionals. Both participants in the exhibition and young artists not involved with the show are invited to attend this free networking event.

Amongst the eclectic gathering of artwork from pan-Long Island young artists, The Young Artists Exhibition will be featuring work from students enrolled in SThe Atelier at Flowerfield Fellowship Program. Students enrolled in this program have dedicated a full-time schedule to fine art education and atelier practices. Fellowship students commit one to three years to intensive atelier studies from fundamentals to advances courses. Fellowship students are closely mentored and trained to become professional artists by applying their classical art education to fine art commissions, teaching opportunities, gallery exhibitions, and refinement of their artistic identity. The Atelier at Flowerfield currently has five students in the Fellowship Program, ages 18-27.

The Atelier at Flowerfield strives to strengthen arts and culture on Long Island and vitalize an all-inclusive community of passionate creators. The Young Artists Exhibition is an event celebrating the exceptional talent of young artists on Long Island and uniting specialized young artists from a wider area than the typical localized high school art show.
