In this course, students will gain the ability to draw and paint from life through the use of the sight-size technique. Beginning with plaster cast drawings, students learn to control proportions, form, and value. Once this process is mastered, students will move on to cast painting, still life, or portrait. In each field, the student masters the subject matter through drawing before moving on to oil paints. This style of teaching assures that every student learns each skill fully before moving on to more complex techniques. Realistic drawing and painting is the cornerstone of every creative endeavor, whether it be in the fine art or commercial field.
