Intro To Painting

This class is an experiential, hands on, “get a little messy” beginners introduction to oil painting basics. Students will learn the necessary foundations in the application of oil paint while examining canvas types and preparation, brush types, palette types, mixing colors, and color values. This class will set you on a clear path to painting with gusto!

Gray Matters 50 sheet paper palette by Richeson

Small bottle of Liquin 75ml

Small bottle of stand oil 75 ml

8 or 16 oz Turpenoid

2-Medium cups(no lids)

Roll of paper towel 

11 x 14 canvas panels (value pack @Michaels, about $10.00 with coupon). First we'll practice and play, then you will be shown the value of good canvas.


   3-5 good quality(not student grade) oil painting brushes ( small (size 4-6 filbert, flat size 6-8, filbert, #9 (about the size of your pointer finger). Please note: Brush size varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. They should have firm spring to them, hog hair.

Instructor favorites: Rosemary Princeton, Kolinski, Silver Brush professional, Windsor and Newton (not student grade)
