Introduction to Color with Pastels
For Homeschool Students ages 11 and up
with Lana Ballot
The Atelier is happy to announce the arrival of a new pastel program for homeschool students. In this class, homeschool students ages 11 and up are welcome to study with Lana Ballot in our state-of-the-art studio space for a four week, introductory semester. All materials, including a full soft pastel set, are included in the price of this course. Students will work at the easel in this course.
Pastel is a wonderful medium to learn working with color. In this class we will explore how to use color to create the illusion of 3 dimensional objects on a flat surface. We’ll learn about cool and warm colors, and how to use them to add more interest and depth in a painting. We’ll discover the importance of gray colors and how they help brighter colors shine. We’ll practice different ways of applying pastels to achieve the desired look of a drawing or a painting.
