The Atelier at Flowerfield offers studio art classes for students of all ages and ability levels, focusing on the classical fundamentals so that students may advance in artistic expression. Classes are taught in state-of-the-art, North light studios by some of Long Island's finest art instructors.

The Atelier seeks to equip students with the tools of classical art, while encouraging them to apply their craft to a contemporary setting. The tradition of classical art on Long Island has roots that reach back to William Sidney Mount in the early 19th century, Thomas Moran and Winslow Homer in late 19th century, William Merritt Chase in the 20th century, and other notable Long Island artists in the 21st century. The Atelier at Flowerfield serves to train the contemporary generation of Long Island artists with a focused program of study, so that the story of Long Island can continue to be told by the hands of talented and educated artists.

The Atelier at Flowerfield offers five core courses: Drawing for Beginners, Cast Drawing, Still Life Painting, Figure Drawing & Painting and Portrait Painting, in addition to Painting with Pastels, Watercolor Painting and Fundamentals of Graphic Novel Design. Our youth classes include Classical Art Foundations for Middle and High School Students, Drawing and Painting for Homeschool Students and Classical Art Foundations for Youth ages 7-11. Our classes are taught by talented and inspiring instructors dedicated to teaching their craft and sharing their passion for art. Classes are held in our uniquely designed north light studios in keeping with the traditions of European and early American painters.

The Atelier at Flowerfield also maintains a fine art gallery, where we showcase the artwork of students, instructors and visiting artists, and host free art history lectures open to the public.
