Open Studio is an absolutely essential component of an art student's education. There is a direct relationship between time spent at the easel, and growth. In the Open Studio environment, students are encouraged to continue with drawing and painting projects which are in a similar vein to their "instructed" class session. However, Open Studio can also be a time of experimentation, a time to work on projects that one would otherwise not attempt in an "instructed" session.
